Meet Tatters! Tatters is a beautiful, 3-5 year old cat that has been rescued from the world.
Tatters was a "regular" visitor to my porch, eating there for 2-3 yrs., but very trap-smart. A few months ago, he allowed me to catch him. What a sweetie pie! This guy is one big push-over! He meows as he comes to the door to greet me when I come in the room, brushing himself against my leg, as if giving a hug. (He actually let me pet him the first night!) He gives head bumps so that I will pet him. He really enjoys the attention and loves to be pet. He is an awesome cat - even the vet fell in love with him!
Poor Tatters must've been someone's cat at one time and was probably left behind when they moved. Unfortunately, he has paid dearly for being abandoned. Tatters looks as though he has been on the receiving end of a lot of cat fights...and lost.
He has scars all over him and lost a few bottom teeth due to some type of trauma. The teeth do not bother him, he eats just like any other cat and has quite an appetite, to boot! Tatters has a heart murmur and is FIV+. The vet feels he probably got FIV due to a fight with an FIV positive cat.
FIV positive cats are not contagious - it's not like having feline leukemia. An FIV cat is only contagious to other cats (never to humans or dogs!) through blood or intercourse - just like FIV in people, NOT saliva and NOT from eating or drinking from the same bowls. Their immune system may be slightly weakened or it may not - Tatter's is not weakened and he has a strong immune system. They can live long and happy lives, just like everyone else.
Despite Tatter's troubles and rough past, he is very happy and positive and is as positively lovable as they come! Everyone falls in love with him and he deserves a loving family who will not abandon him again.
Tatters is neutered, has tested positive for FIV, negative for feline leukemia, is up to date on vaccines, and is microchipped. For more information on this handsome guy, please contact Lynn at GoodMews22@aol.com.
